WFL is a family business, formed by Tim & Stephnie Fathers, in 2004 when they re-located to Northumberland from Hertfordshire. Their aim: To provide a professional and experienced service, able to cover all aspects of Tree Surgery & Tree Care.

Tim & Stephnie have also built up a 'Firewood' business in the Hexham & North Tyne area, supplying seasoned dry Logs to the growing number of people choosing use wood to heat their homes. The 'Fathers' family have over 30 years' experience preparing and selling Firewood, and aim to supply a top quality product 12 months of the year, suitable for Log burners, Cookers and Wood boilers.

All areas of the business continue to grow, often through personal recommendation, with a client base for tree surgery and forestry works including: Private customers, Estates, Forestry Commission, National Park and local parish councils.

In 2008 WFL become an Approved Contractor for the North East Region Forestry Commission as Tree Surgeons. We undertake Tree Safety inspections for the Forestry Commission, and carry out contracts for forestry works such as chemical Spraying and 'Regeneration removal'.

Tim & Stephnie Fathers, started their first Tree Surgery business: 'Ashwell Tree Services' in Hertfordshire during 1987, this business became one of the top 'Approved Contractors' for North Hertfordshire & Hertfordshire District Councils for 14 years.

Tim carried out Tree Inspections and Reports for trees from Letchworth Garden City down to North London, for the Arboricultural officer, much of the work tendered for on Streets, Highways, Schools, Council owned gardens and parks during that period, was undertaken by Ashwell Tree Services.

  • Risk assessments are routinely carried out, Health & Safety considered of utmost importance.
